2012 is just around the corner, who'd have thought it? Totes madness... 2011 has been a bizarre time pour moi filled with lots and nothings. I feel that come Jan the 1st I will be stepping into exactly the same spot that I did 12 months ago... Need to hold onto all the subtle changes that have been in motion with the hope of space being carved for a big fat change.
A great HUGE difference... Here's hoping.
Taking a minute or two to think about all the best and most significant bits from the year that is almost done. In no particular order and no set theme. (Note - clothes are missing we'll get onto those tomoz.)
Gone Blogging
First she was Anne's-âneries then she evolved into The Satirical Stylist. Since March 28th blogging has become an enorm part of my life, somewhat an obsession, sometimes a chore and more than often a complete joy.
The first ever post was discussing the vile ciggie issue: Bye Bye Ciggies. I was sure that by putting "giving up" out there; in print I would have a better chance at stopping. I am still smoking and the Alan Carr book is unfinished.
The most popular post was... Wait for it... Boobs, The post where I donned a two cup sizes bigger bra. This post attracted many a perve, fab for ratings but not so great at securing regular readers. The vid has had over 30,000 views which is amaze but yet again, not exactly bringing in the right kind of readership.
Here is another look at my temporary journey into a life avec boobs:
Fave post so far was sans aucun doute: Essex week. Which was not one but a week of The Only way is Essex Inspired posts with my dear girl Amelia and the help of a number of fab friends.
This was so fun to do on a number of levels. Here is a selection of my best pics from this out of body TOWIE experience:
Girls on Film
Following suite from online writing I have also been getting involved with a bit if vid making, yay Youtube! This platform has become increasingly relevant for me in 2011 and I have slowly gained the skills that enable me to whack together a vid. Total tech-babe.
As already mentioned Boobs had the most hits but I think my very fave has to be Madame Unicorn and the Runaway that me and Jose threw together. I can not watch it as it makes me cringe terribly, however, it was so fun to make and is a fab little momentum of fun times avec ma girl.
Book Worming
Every year I read thousands of words which pile up onto a heap of I read you but can no longer quite recall you.
I know we've met but I'm not sure when, sorry.
One book that truly has stuck in my mind is The Help. Loved the book and the film! Totes amaze.
On the Box
I am not a massive TV watcher, however, I love me some scripted reality. Not that it is completely EXCLUSIVE to 2011, but the UK has been pulling out a grand selection of treats in recent times. I like to say that this obsession is down to the Sociologist in me, I'm way into voyerism and jump at the opportunity to watch a selection of peeps from different walks of life... Throw in a sticky situtation or two and I'm hooked... Sit back, relax and sigh.
Back when I was living in NY me and my lappy enjoyed a varied selection of reality anything. The U-S of A was right on the mark, thankfully Old Blighty has cottoned on. It's impossible for me to pick out a fave as they all cater for different needs, but here are the obvs tops:
The Only Way is Essex
Made in Chelsea
Desperate Scousewives
The Rich and Famous
2011 hasn't been a great year for celeb crushing. All of my fave girls have remained in their icon-capsule and haven't been up to anything that's left too much of an impression. BUT that's ok, trust me. When it comes to my girls I have them high up on top of a pedestal of fabuliscious-ness; that's how I like them to stay. It's similar to the seen and not heard concept, I think you are amaze but please refrain from opening your mouth. Some of my ladies are just a mere snippet of what they once were instead of who they are today...
(From Left to Right: Kate Moss, Isabelle Adjani, Françoise Hardy, Vanessa Paradis and Jane Birkin)
However, there have been a few new contenders that have caught my eye over the last 12 months, not all of the iconic variety but def girls for a season or two.
(From Left to Right: Chloe Sims, Millie Mackintosh, Chloe Cummings, Miranda Kerr, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Emma Stone.)
Girls who like Boys
Move over girls let's give the boys some page space, oui? Celeb boys are not my abso-pick I usually prefer the less theatrical male variety. However one hottie that gets my juices flowing is Mr Ryan Gosling.. Totes hot stuff.
Serious face; built like a dream.
Now for un petit secret crush I have been harbouring... Made in Chelsea's Francis Boulle. Call it entrepreneurial charm mixed with discreet humour. Totes-posh-tot.
Nail Art for Dummies
This year has been so inspiring when it comes to Nail Art and you know that I have been obsessing over the very subject. I have always been well involved with nail painting, however until 2011 I was stuck on: Pinks, Reds and Corals. Today I am branching out all over the shop... Lord knows where it will end.
There have been moments of intense over-excitement with the likes of crackle, over night love affairs which were over by the morning. As well as short fads I have loved experimenting with interesting nail projects such as newspaper nails and Leopard Print fun to try out and share avec vous.
My abs-faves for 2011 have to be sparkle nails!
It might just be the time of year, but this girl dreams of dazzle.
Bon Voyage
Who doesn't like to move around and explore? This year I have been lucky enough to jet about here and there and have had some fab adventures.
I started 2011 in Dam avec le boyf and a couple of months later we found ourselves in Thailand snorkeling, at close proximity with monkeys and surrounded by amaze fashion. Around Easter time I met up with one of my NY girls in Dublin which was a first and lastly I hopped over to San Sebastián and then the South of France to visit my gran avec la fam...
Et voila a glance over the last year... Join me tomoz to talk about fash and all things material. Kisses xoxo
