Hello your royal gorgeous-ness. Hope all is fab, I am so happy to say that I am starting to feel much, much better... Phew. That blasted throat infection had me stuck in a rut of nothingness.
A never ending hole of will this ever end?
As soon as I felt the first symptoms, I declared defeat whilst tactically rounding troops. Think: Giving in to the illness... Letting it sweep over me, staying in motionless whilst filling myself with cold fighting goodness, a complex war.
Aujourd'hui; victory is mine. Thankfully my brain has gone back to whizzing and whirling with inspiration, words and thoughts.
Here's some of them:
Pulling a Sicky
I get such a mounting rage when I think about the "calling in sick" process. I remember the vile butterflies, pressure and panic of having to make that decision of whether I can force myself in...
"Well, its nearly the weekend"
"Maybe I'll wait and see how I feel later on in the week"
"But, I'm sooooo busy at the min"
For goodness sake, STOP IT! If your sick, you're god-damn sick.
Good health is so precious and being protective of that is vital. Pulling yourself through days when you need to be resting not only stretches the illness out but you may also be contaminating your colleagues. Keep your germs and work on them in private.
Job-responsibility and the rest serves as valid excuses for being at work but the REAL reason that the whole "calling in sick" biz is such a pain is due to the stigma attached to it.
Sarcastic Tone "Just to let you know ANNE has called in sick today, I don't know WHEN she'll be back in"
Sarcastic Tone met with rolling eyes "She said she had a stomach bug or something..."
- You're paranoid your colleagues are doubting you
- You spend your whole time off thinking about how many days it's going to take you to get better
- You're counting your sick days
When you get back to work you may get asked if your feeling better, possibly the subject will not even be 'dignified' with a question or you may be greeted with the companies sickness policy?
Note: As I work freelance I don't have to go through this process at the minute, I guess that is one of the benefits. (Although I don't get paid for being poorly...)
Faking It
I'm not sure if I told you about the amaze gift bag I received when I went to the Clothes Show with my girl Holly (she was one of the judges for the Beauty Awards - which meant free gifts for her... And moi).
In this bag was a pack of fake nails.
And there they are on moi. I don't think I have glued nails on since I was under teen-age and have never worn acrylics. But being ill and bored it seemed like a project I could handle. I put them on last Friday and they are still going strong, one did flick off but I quickly glued in back on.
I have surprised myself by quite liking them, I must do as I keep admiring them and I haven't painted them in all this time, which is unheard of. Fake nails are not my usual cup of tea, I uploaded a pic onto facebook and both my bestie and sis were shocked by this new look.
"Not very you"
Well no possibly not, but this week it is.
Dream Jumper
Just before Christmas I was moaning about the mission that is: Finding the Dream Jumper. Ha! Well, I found her... I don't own her. But I found her.
This Acne Shore Cotton Knit in Dark Navy is what dreams are made for.
Twin Crush
Guess what? I have a new girl crush and it ain't just one lass it's deux. I've managed to become hooked on le nouveaux Celebrity Big Brother (#CBB) and I love those bubbly blonde bunny-girls.
(The Shannon Twins: Kristina and Karissa)
I find their upfront attitude refreshing, especially when set against the dull-stiff glamour sticks in the house. There's none of that mincing of words and fishing for compliments, it's in your face.
FACT "We're hot"
Speak it how it is (or isn't) b*tches!
FLASH FLASH!!
Oh my! I put a deposit down on a camera today... Excited: DOES. NOT. COVER. IT. I will be picking it up in Saturday and will be playing around with it throughout the weekend. I have been using my dad's camera to take the majority of the pics you see on here (thanks dad!) So, it was time that girl got her own. So I have... Almost.
Here's a sneak preview before the real thing:
Here was my list of wants that led me to this decision:
- Something between a digital and a SLR
- A practical size that will fit in my handbag
- Attachable lense
- Quick shutter function
- HD Video
- And many more technical aspects that I awkwardly explained to the shop assistant with gestures and lack of word knowledge.
Decision made: Sony nex 5 n
I went to visit her today and she surpassed my expectations!
Sh*t Girls Say
I came across a funny YouTube chap today on Facey and his vid made me chuckle. Mainly because most of the phrases he was uttering I myself have uttered at some point. That goes for you too ladies, non?
The boy has a channel so check it for a smile: http://www.youtube.com/user/shitgirlssay
Thinkings up, see you tomoz... Kisses xoxo
