Such a dull & dreary day, a day for puddles, brollies & boots.
View from under my umbrella as I step outside to pap my nails.
Nail Damage - A Diary
Last week I shared with you my gold falsies that I picked up from Primark for 1 pound:
At first they made me feel a little nauseous but they quickly grew on me, mainly because I got so many compliments, after all you couldn't miss them and if you didn't know that they were such a load of cheap tack, you could think of them as fab.
Ugh, well that's where the positive remarks end. I popped the nails off on Friday night - my nails were covered in yellow glue, which was all lumpy and very unattractive. I used nail varnish remover to try and get it off but it did N O T H I N G my nails had become a disaster.
The next day was pamper party day - my baby girls turning 10 celebrations... Not only were my talons bare of polish but they were a disfigured shambles. Usually such a celebration would have had me decked out in delightful & imaginative designs, doing my girl proud, letting her friends know that Auntie is the queen of polish. Instead I had to curl up my fingers and try to avoid nail talk... At all costs.
On Sunday, I tried to apply some polish and attempted a floral design to hide my lumpy nail-bumps. Neither of what I set out to do worked, the designs smudged & splogged: emphasising the defected areas.
On Monday & Tuesday I went about my normal days but sans polish, on a few occasions I spotted some inspiring nail art or gorge colours on shop assistants/recruitment agents, complimented them on their fab vision before remembering my own sorry state of affairs.
This morning I woke up thinking enough is enough... I started off by soaking my nails in polish remover. This worked well at evening & wearing down the glue but I was left with slightly raised white patches. So this afternoon I went on the hunt for a buffer, which was surprisingly hard to find. I managed to locate one...

Above Pic: After buffing - I had never used one properly until now. This is a 4 way nail buffer which cost £1.79 and included instructions for use.. Phew.

As you can see the buffing has made a really good difference, although they are still looking unhealthy and need some serious love & attention. I will try and do something within the next few days to make them feel a little better but for now I just couldn't spend another minute looking at these unpolished-mouldy-messes.
