Red Carpet Manicure – Gel Polish Pro Kit – REVIEW

Last week on the way to Newcastle my friend bought along something REALLY FUN for the train journey: A Gel Polish Pro Kit. It was honestly the best trip ever. We got the kit out, plugged the LED light in and got polishing... It's very compact and straightforward, just couldn't believe it; after NO time I had my very own, personally applied gel nails. Amaze, non?

The idea of being able to do this as and when is v exciting, when I went to the salon to have mine done, it seemed to take forever but this kit is SO quick each stage takes no more than 45 secs under the light and when it's all applied it's all dry and perfect.

No: Smudges or Chips... Hooray.

Now, before I get too over-excited there is an important incident to report. I have only had gel nails once before and after they were removed my poor nails were completely weakened and broken by the process (see here). However, I've already removed one set of gels from this kit and my nails looked OK, just a little dry... So, I think we're alright.

As you know I love painting my nails, however my toes not so much. It's just so far down and uncomfortable to do... Sigh. Although exposed toes must be painted (obvs) which is why Gel Toes are so perfect - It lasts - less bending. I asked my dear girl if I could borrow her kit so I could do my toes and share the process avec vous - Thanks Erin!

Ha, can't quite believe I'm sharing such an earnest pic of my toes/feet but here you are - Naked toe nails.

Red Carpet Manicure Gel Polish Pro Kit this kit retails at £89.95 there is also a Portable Kit which costs £59.95, but the LED light is a lot slimmer - little room for toes but great for fingers.

I WANT ONE!

GEL NAILS - HOW TO

Really simple, non? My toes look gorge and I won't need to touch them now for at least 3 weeks.

Removing your Gel Polish

Like with glitter polish the prospect of removing gel polish is no way as exciting as its application. However, it's inevitable so I thought I should bite the bullet - have a go - share avec vous.

I decided to do both hands at once, which was not a good idea... It got really tricky applying and wrapping with all that foil, I ended up spilling half the polish remover on the floor and got a little sweaty and stressed. One hand at a time would have been simpler or having someone to help with one hand. Anyways, here's the process:

The Gel Polish came off easily which was a relief, I decided to re-do my nails straightaway - after all I was going to have to return the kit... I WANT ONE!

Love this gold glittery shade! Another thing that is great about gels is you can paint over them and your polish stays on better with the gel as a base - Result.

There is a selection of polishes, supplies and of course the kits on the Red Carpet Manicure website. You can also find them at ASOS, Harvey Nichols and Beauty Bay - (Free Delivery!)
